About You Run You Die -Curious Crocuta Liuwa Plains, managed by African Parks, is not the first wildlife area you think of when going to Zambia. There are not a lot of people, which makes it very attractive.
We were there in December 2016, a few months before the famous Lady Liuwa - the lone lioness, passed away.
At the beginning of this month, the second largest wildebeest migration in the world took place here - after the great migration in Tanzania. It is also one of the best places in Africa to see spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta). You can keep watch undisturbed at their den all day long until the little ones come out or the parents go out to hunt. Another great thing of Liuwa is that you can get out of your car to photograph the curious, always cheeky hyenas from a low - eye level - perspective.
